The bachelor's of science degree program in sportsmedicine at Mercyhurst College prepares students for careers or advanced degrees in this growing field. With concentrations in athletic training, pre-physical therapy, pre-medicine and health fitness promotion , students are prepared for a wide array of professional careers.
The Mercyhurst College Sportsmedicine Department's BS degree program in athletic training has earned national reaccreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). The program is officially recognized as having met the standards established by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine. The significance of the Mercyhurst program’s reaccreditation is that it was approved for 10 years, the longest allowable term before a program must undergo the rigors of reaccreditation, said Bradley Jacobson, department chair.
